PRESIDENTIAL RACE 2008
As a gun owner and concealed carry license holder, I sure do appreciate my 2nd amendment freedoms. I'm as concerned as many of you as to what's going to happen this November when America chooses a new President.
I'm a member of the NRA because gun freedoms are of paramount importance. If hunting, gun sports and self-protection rights are important to you, you should really consider joining the NRA.
THIS JUST IN:
This week, in a testament to his anti-gun record, Barack Obama has received a presidential endorsement from the anti-gun Brady Campaign.
Barack Obama is, by far, the most anti-gun presidential nominee in history and he certainly deserves the endorsement of one of the most outspoken anti-gun organizations in the country.
Barack Obama is in favor of "home rule" legislation, which gives cities more jurisdiction than the states to enact local gun laws - the very thing Ohioans just fought to abolish. If this is enacted again, Columbus and Cleveland could once again enact gun bans in their cities and overrule Ohio's new concealed carry laws!
Barack Obama, as an Illinois Senator, has called for laws that close down gun stores located within 5 miles of a school or park. 5 miles is a long distance!! This would kill 99% of the gun stores in America.
Barack Obama supports federal legislation banning concealed carry / Right-To-Carry permits nationwide.
Barack Obama felt that the Washington DC gun ban was a local issue, not a constitutional issue. He supported the ban.
Barack Obama supported Senator Ted Kennedy's proposal to ban virtually all hunting ammunition.
Barack Obama seeks to renew the Clinton gun bans of that previous administration, and wants to add to the list of banned guns, widening the threat on gun freedoms.
Barack Obama supports gun-owner licensing and Federal gun rationing, which would limit the amount of firearms you can own, and limit the amount you can purchase in a given time period.
Barack Obama support the proposed centralized federal gun registry, which includes your name as well as the make and model of every gun you own.
Barack Obama supports restrictive laws that would virtually shut down gun shows and swap meets.
Barack Obama supports laws that allow lawsuits to be filed against gun manufacturers as well as the "Bloomberg doctrine" that preys on gun stores with crippling lawsuits, forcing them to close.
Barack Obama was one of 18 Illinois Senators who, by voting against a proposed legislation, felt that decent citizens who used a gun in self-defense should be criminally charged with a gun crime, or in some cases homicide.
Barack Obama was once on the Board of Directors of the Joyce Foundation, an anti-gun organization that has granted over 18-million dollars to anti-gun groups and causes.
...and John McCain? He's not lilly-white either, however he voted against all of the Federally-based issues mentioned above, and supported gun rights in Washington DC.
My friends, SOMEONE is GOING TO TAKE OFFICE in January of 2009. It's important for you to let the candidates know where you stand on the issue of gun freedoms in America. Whether you're an NRA member or not, please follow this link and take the survey. The NRA has pledged to make sure the survey results get on the desks of the candidates. Further, the NRA has set a goal of recruiting 500,000 new members to help send a message to Washington that Americans want their 2nd amendment rights to live on.
