Burr Oak State Park
This state park is 2,592 acres of woodland and 664 acres of water.  While lake fishing some of the fish you could catch are:  largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, catfish, and saugeye.  The lake has a 10 horsepower limit for boats.  This park also has designated hunting areas.  Some of the game located here are:  deer, grouse, turkey, furbearers, and waterfowl.  Campsites and other recreational activities are available.  Burr Oak State Park is located west of St. Rt. 78 just south of Wayne National Forest.  614-767-3570

Crooksville Reservoir
This 15 acre reservoir is located northwest of St. Rt. 669.  Only electric motors permitted while pond fishing.  Camping and other recreational activities are available.  614-982-2712 ext. 9870

Muskingum River Parkway
This parkway is great for river fishing.  Some of the fish that can be caught are:  largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, black bass, walleye, saugeye, catfish, shovelhead catfish, and freshwater mussels.  The locks were constructed from 1837 - 1841 and are considered the oldest hand made locks in the United States of America.  Boats can have unlimited amount of horsepower.  Muskingum River Parkway is located near St. Rt. 60, St. Rt. 669, St. Rt. 376, and St. Rt. 266.  It runs along the North River and South River.  614-452-3820

McConnelsville Lock #7
At lock #7 shore fishing, boat docks, and other recreational activities are available.  The lock is located south of McConnelsville. 

Rokeby Lock #8
Rokeby Lock #8 provides shore fishing, boat docks, and other recreational activities.  This lock is located near the junction of St. Rt. 60 and St. Rt. 669. 

Stockport Lock #6
Shore fishing and boat ramp/docks are provided.  Gasoline and groceries can be located nearby.  Other recreational activities are available.  Stockport Lock #6 is located in the town of Stockport.

Ohio Power Co. Recreation
This area is made up of 30,000 acres of woodland and 2,000 acres of water.  Keep off the restricted areas.  These areas can be are very dangerous.  350 ponds and lakes provide fishing for: bass, bluegill, pike, catfish, pickerel, and crappie.  Boats must be limited to a 6 horsepower motor.  A free permit is required for hunting.  Camping and other recreational activities are provided.  This area is located north east corner of the county.  614-962-4225

Peabody Coal Co. Lands
This area is 200 acres of woodland and water.  This area provides fishing for largemouth bass and bluegill.  This area is also a public hunting area.  Some of the game that are located here are: deer, grouse, turkey, squirrel, rabbit, furbearers, and waterfowl.  Their is No drinking water and No restrooms.  This area is primitive.  Stay out of posted areas.  50% of this area was strip mined resulting in miles of high walls.  Peabody Coal Co. Lands is located north of St. Rt. 37 near the county line.

Riverfront Park
This park includes 500 acres of water.  Shore fishing is available and some of the fish that can be caught are:  largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, black bass, walleye, saugeye, catfish, and shovelhead catfish.  Power boats and sail boats are permitted.  Other recreational activities are provided.  Riverfront Park is located on the west side of McConnelsville.

Wayne National Forest
Wayne National Forest is a 3,234 acre public hunting area.  Campsites, hiking trails, and other recreational activities are available.  It is located on the west side of the county north of Burr Oak State Park. 

Wolf Creek Wildlife Area
This area is 3,638 acres of woodland and includes 7 acres of water.  While shore fishing some of the fish available to catch are:  chain pickerel, largemouth bass, channel cat, bluegill, smallmouth bass, rock bass, and suckers.  Wolf Creek Wildlife Area is also a public hunting area.  Some of the game that inhabit this area are:  rabbit, quail, squirrel, grouse, deer, woodcock, woodchuck, and waterfowl.  A shooting range, transplanted beaver colony, and other recreational activities are available.  This area is located east of St. Rt. 555 and St. Rt. 78.
