Buckeye
Lake State Park
This 175 acre
park includes 3,382 acres of water, great for fishing. Crappie,
perch bass, bluegill, channel cat, and bullhead are some of the fish
available. Boat ramps are
provided and boats can have an unlimited amount of horse power. Only
waterfowl hunting is permitted. Buckeye Lake State Park is located
on the south side of the county near St. Rt. 360. 614-467-2690
Dillon Wildlife Area
Dillon Wildlife Area is in both Licking and
Muskingum counties. With nearly 4,000 acres open to hunters, this
sprawling wildlife area between Newark and Zanesville contains plenty of
deer.
This area is about equally divided between open fields and woodlands along
the Licking River, where corn- fields and other small grain fields are
intermixed with brushy fencerows and other cover. Oaks and hickory occupy
the slopes and ridges, while willow, sycamore and hackberry border the
flood plain.
State Route 16 provides the best access into the Licking County portion of
Dillon Wildlife Area.
Herbon
Fish Hatchery
This fishing
hatchery is 217 acres and produces great saugeye, channel cat, and hybrid

Canal Greenway
The Ohio Canal
Greenway is 48 acres with 18 acres of water. Shore fishing and
electric boat fishing are permitted. Canoe access and 3.8 miles of
hiking trails are also available. 614-349-6920
Riverview
Preserve
The preserve is
150 acres with river fishing, canoe access, and mountain bike trails.
Riverview Preserve is located at the end of Ohio St. one-half mile east of
S. Second St. in Newark.

Evans Family Park
This park is 68
acres with 40 acres of water. Shore fishing, boat docks, and other
recreational activities are available. 614-349-6727
Taft
Reserve
A free permit is
required to hunt this 276 acre public hunting area. Hiking, bridle,
and cross country trails are also available. The entrance is located
on Flint Ridge Rd. one mile east of Linnville Rd.
