Kokosing Wildlife
Area
The 1,323-acre Knox County wildlife area is northwest of Fredericktown and
five miles northeast of Chesterville. The public land surrounding Kokosing
Lake is managed by the Ohio Division of Wildlife specifically for wildlife
and recreation.
A large woodlot consisting mainly of pin oak and hickory is on the south
end of the lake. The area provides limited camping facilities in the
southwest corner of the area north of county Road 6. Habitat development
includes the planting of grasses and food plots as well as cutting trees
in fencerows to improve brushy areas.
The best access to Kokosing Wildlife Area is from state Routes 13 and 546.
Interstate 71 also runs just north of this wildlife area.

Mohican
Wildlife Area
Mohican Wildlife
Area is located on the east side of the county near St. Rt. 62. This
409 acre area is a public hunting area. Grouse, deer, squirrel,
rabbit, woodchuck, furbearers, and waterfowl are some of the game.
Smallmouth bass, rock bass, pike, suckers, and catfish are available when
stream fishing in this area. 614-593-6933
Mohican
Dry Reservoir
This 356 acre
public hunting area is located on the east side of the county just north
of St. Rt. 715. 216-343-6647
Knox Lake
Wildlife Area
Knox Lake is the
bass-fishing capital of Knox County. The lake also has public
hunting areas as well as a multitude of places to hike, bird watch, check
out the bald eagles, picnic and relax.
