Cooper
Hallow Wildlife Area
This 4,776 acre
wildlife area includes 9 acres of water in which LM Bass, channel
cat, and bluegill are there for the taking while shore fishing.
Only electric motorboats permitted. There is a public hunting area, with opportunities for grouse, deer, squirrel, turkey,
rabbit, woodchuck, woodcock, waterfowl, and furbearers.

Hammertown Lake
This 197 acre
body of water is great for lake fishing. Only electric motor boats
permitted. Boat ramps, boat camping, and campsites with and without
electricity are available. 614-286-2201
Jackson
Lake State Park
This 242 acre
lake is known for its bass, muskie, bluegill, catfish, and
carp. Boats are limited to 10 horsepower. Designated
areas are reserved for public hunting. Other recreational activities
are available. 614-682-6197
Liberty
Wildlife Area
This is a 145
acre public hunting area. Animals include: squirrel, grouse, rabbit,
deer, woodcock, and furbearers. 614-593-6933
Meads
Forestlands
This is a public
hunting area. When hunting the 24,956 acres of Meads
Forestlands, hunters must obtain the permission of private landowners in the area before crossing
surrounding property. 614-772-3111
Richland
Furnace State Forest
This public
hunting area is 2,448 acres. Richland Furnace State Forest is
located in the north area of the county. 614-596-5781
Waterloo
Lake
Waterloo Lake is
located on the west side of the county. The 30 acre lake is great
for shore fishing.
Wayne
National Forest
Jackson County's portion of Wayne National
Forest is a 1,701 acre public hunting area. The forest is located on
the border between Jackson county and Gallia county. Jackson County is one 12 Ohio
counties that are home to the Wayne National Forest. Here's some

Wellston
Veterans Park
This park is 300
acres that includes 133 acres of water. Wellston Veterans Park is
located in the north east part of the county. Shore fishing, boat
