OHIO
Hamilton County

Wildlife Officer:
Josh Zientek
(937) 372-5639 X5217

The Hamilton Urban Deer Zone covers all of Hamilton County and parts of western Clermont County. High archery harvest totals have been reported there. The river counties such as Clermont and Adams also have large wooded tracts with excellent deer habitat.

The entire southern border of the county is home to the Ohio River and there are dozens of areas with river access.  Call 513-352-4080 for information about river fishing and the numerous nature preserves that call Hamilton County home.

Lake Isabella borders Clermont County to the east, and is known for its 28 acres of fishing for bass, rainbow trout, catfish and panfish.  The surrounding 77 acres is perfect for cross-country skiing, canoeing and family fun -  picnic facilities abound.

Little Miami State Park features river fishing for smallmouth and rock bass, canoeing, and 50 miles of trails for hiking, biking and cross-country skiing.  Bridle trails too.  More than half of the trails are finished, however there is a great distance of trail that is more rugged and less developed.

The Miami Whitewater Forest is Hamilton County's outdoor-fun oasis with 3,897 acres of bridle trails, cross-country skiing, boat rentals, disc golf, cycling and park sports such as volleyball, baseball, golf and more.

The Mitchell Memorial Forest is also a great family fun location with 1,340 acres of picnic facilities and shelters, plus cross-country skiing, sled riding and ice skating.

More bridle trails, hiking and cross-country skiing trails exist at Mt. Airy Forest, which encompasses 1,470 acres of trails, disc golf, picnic shelters, ball diamonds, sledding and playgrounds.

Sharon Woods covers 755 acres in the north-eastern part of the county, north of Blue Ash.  The area is renowned for its bass fishing, plus trout and panfish in its 35 acres of water.  The location is also well known for the affect the ice age had here, and its rich prehistoric sea heritage.  Trails for fitness, hiking, cross-country skiing and cycling, plus volleyball, ball diamonds, canoes & rowboats, and a golf course.

Winton Woods encompasses 2,548 acres, which includes 183 acres of water in which canoes, row boats, paddle boats and sail boats are welcome.  Pony rides and equestrian facilities, camping and picnic facilities, park sports facilities and lots more.  Website
